Our Demonstration Gardens are living examples of ecological farming in action, showcasing how food production, biodiversity, and natural beauty can coexist. While these gardens are still in their early stages, they represent our commitment to building spaces that inspire and educate over time. Each area is intentionally designed to offer practical insights into regenerative growing techniques and permaculture principles. These are working gardens — a resource for learning and inspiration as they evolve.
At the heart of our demonstration gardens is the Food Forest, a fledgling system mimicking the structure and function of a natural forest. Fruit trees, berry bushes, herbs, and ground covers are layered to create a self-sustaining, perennial food system that supports the surrounding ecosystem. Our Kitchen Herb Garden highlights how easy it can be to grow fresh herbs for cooking, whether in an outdoor bed or a simple container on a patio. Visitors will also see the beginnings of our Pollinator Garden, a haven for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. This vibrant space supports critical pollinator species while adding beauty to the farm. Surrounding many of these areas are our developing Hedgerows, natural borders that provide shelter, food, and habitat for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife. Together, these spaces reflect the principles of regenerative agriculture and permaculture gardens, where every element contributes to a healthier, more balanced ecosystem.
Our Demonstration Gardens invite visitors to engage, explore, and ask questions. As a teaching farm, we’re excited to share these works in progress through tours, workshops, and live demonstrations. Visitors can see firsthand how these concepts are taking shape and learn how to apply them in their own spaces. Whether it’s the layered approach of a food forest, the simplicity of a kitchen herb garden, or the importance of supporting pollinators, these gardens are a place to understand how these methods work and why they matter.
We believe that sharing knowledge is one of the most valuable ways we can give back. Our demonstration gardens are a space where people can learn how to grow food, support wildlife, and make their own landscapes more productive and sustainable. Whether you’re an experienced homesteader or a curious beginner, we invite you to explore and be inspired. These early efforts are just the beginning, and as they grow, we hope to show how even small steps — like starting a permaculture garden or planting a patio herb bed — can lead to meaningful changes.
Our Demonstration Gardens are an important part of our teaching farm, and we’re excited to share them with the community. Because our farm is also our home, visits to the gardens are currently available through guided tours and scheduled events. As we grow, we plan to introduce open hours to make exploring our gardens more accessible. For now, we invite you to join us for a tour to learn more about permaculture, regenerative farming, and how these concepts come to life on our farm. Stay tuned for updates as we refine the best way to welcome visitors while maintaining the balance of our farmstead life.
