Horton Bay Heritage Farm is a working Northern Michigan farmstead and local farm goods store offering fresh produce, cut flowers, nursery plants, and heritage-breed livestock. Our land is both a place to shop for locally grown goods and a welcoming destination for visitors to explore and enjoy farm life.

We grow fresh, seasonal produce using minimal-till and regenerative farming practices that prioritize soil health, nutrient density, and ecological balance. Our vegetables are grown without synthetic chemicals and harvested at peak freshness as part of a diversified, sustainable farm system.

Our on-farm plant nursery grows hardy garden plants suited to Northern Michigan, including vegetable starts, perennials, shrubs, and edible plants. We propagate using seeds, cuttings, and divisions, producing resilient nursery stock grown on-site in our greenhouse and outdoor growing areas.

We grow farm-fresh cut flowers and floral accents using sustainable growing practices. Our seasonal selection includes annuals, perennials, foliage, and specialty stems for bouquets, DIY flower buckets, and seasonal floral offerings grown on our farm.

We raise heritage-breed livestock on pasture using rotational grazing systems that support animal health, soil regeneration, and biodiversity. Our farm includes Dexter cattle, Katahdin sheep, poultry, and rabbits raised as part of a diversified, regenerative farming system.

Our demonstration gardens showcase practical, regenerative growing systems in action, including a food forest, kitchen herb garden, pollinator plantings, and hedgerows. These gardens highlight methods that integrate productivity, biodiversity, and ecological resilience on a working Northern Michigan farm.

At Horton Bay Heritage Farm, we believe in sustainable farming practices that promote the health of our land, our crops, and our customers. We use natural fertilizers and pest control methods, rotate our crops, and conserve water to ensure that our farming practices are environmentally responsible.

Our Northern Michigan farm store features a seasonal selection of farm-grown produce, cut flowers, and nursery plants grown right here at Horton Bay Heritage Farm. Located near Petoskey, Charlevoix, and Boyne City, our on-farm store offers locally grown goods while highlighting the animals, gardens, and landscapes that make up our working farmstead. Livestock are raised as part of the farm ecosystem, with limited live animal availability offered seasonally.
