Welcome to the Farm!

Welcome to Horton Bay Heritage Farm, a regenerative farm in Northern Michigan’s scenic lake country, near Petoskey, Charlevoix, and Boyne City. In 2025, we’re excited to open our on-farm store. From fresh produce and cut flowers to pastured heritage breed farm animals and farmstead goods, our farm celebrates seasonal abundance. Our nursery grows annuals, perennials, shrubs, and garden starts, guided by a passion for permaculture. Whether you're a local or a visitor, join us as we build a farmstead rooted in beauty, sustainability, and inspiration.

Production Gardens

On our regenerative farm, we grow a variety of produce and cut flowers using minimal-till methods and regenerative practices to keep our soil healthy and our produce nutrient-rich. By avoiding toxic and artificial chemicals, we let our soil life and plants thrive naturally, providing our community with safe farm goods.

Pastured Animals

On our 14 acres of dedicated pasture, we implement multi-species intensive rotational grazing with heritage breed farm animals including Dexter cattle, Katahdin sheep, bourbon red turkeys, and silver fox rabbits. Regenerative farming enhances soil health, increases biodiversity, and demonstrates sustainable animal management in action, benefiting both the land and our community.

Cut Flower Gardens

Our cut flower gardens are thoughtfully curated with beautiful blooms and foliage that thrive naturally in our communities of Petoskey, Charlevoix, Boyne city and surrounding areas. We grow a mix of annuals and perennials and other floral farmstead goods, providing fresh farm bouquets and DIY flower bucket. Our flower selection evolves, offering fresh floral bouquet designs that reflect the beauty of each season. From spring's first blooms to summer's abundance, fall's rich hues, and Christmas greens, our regenerative farm brings something new to the garden every season.

Plant Nursery

We grow a wide variety of native and non-native ornamental, edible, and medicinal plants. On our regenerative farm, our propagation methods include seeds, cuttings, and divisions. We carefully curate a selection of plants that are hardy and thrive in our northern Michigan climate.  Utilizing our new heated greenhouse, we happily grow our nursery farmstead goods year-round.

Demonstration Gardens

Our Demonstration Gardens are living examples of regenerative farming. Featuring a food forest, kitchen herb garden, pollinator-garden, hedgerows and more, these spaces are designed to inspire and educate. Each garden showcases practical techniques for integrating beauty, biodiversity, and productivity, reflecting the core principles of regenerative agriculture. Centrally located between Petoskey, Charlevoix and Boyne City, visitors can explore these gardens to gain hands-on insights into sustainable practices..

Shop On the Farm

Our Focus is on offering a full small-scale farmstead experience in Northern Michigan. Plans are underway to offer a mix of farmstead goods like organically grown produce and cut flowers and other regenerative farm grown gifts at our on-farm store. While we cultivate our vision for the future, the farm store will begin with humble beginnings on "The Glorie Be" front porch starting 2025. Self serve kiosk, cash and card options available.
